Last day of April and I can’t help it…..
Book review days are so much fun because I LOVE sharing what I’m reading. If you’re ever looking for a specific recommendation, I’d love to give you some options.
So here’s what I read this month.
Another fantastic thriller by the one and only McFadden. Although her books are semi predictable, they are sure to keep me on the edge of my seat the entire time. I love reading anything she writes simply because it’s a page turner.
This one’s about Erika Cass, who has a perfect family and a perfect life. Until two detectives show up at her door. They want to speak to her son, because he was the last person to see a girl that turned up missing.
Does she question her faith in her son who has a disturbing past, or does she do everything in her power to prove his innocence?
This mystery/thriller will leave you wanting more answers… until you read the epilogue!!!!
The Secrets of Us is a psychological thriller about Krystal and Nicole who are foster sisters who have formed a family unit. Their bond proves that they will do ANYTHING for each other. That doesn’t change when Nicole is committed to a psychiatric hospital after trying to kill her husband Aiden.
I love the way to storyline flipped from THEN to NOW, it really helped me understand their childhood trauma and how that affected their adulthood.
Berry writes smart thrillers; her experience as a clinical psychologist, specializing in childhood trauma really makes for great fiction writing!
I enjoyed this one, and I think you will too!

I’m not sure this one was as good as the synopsis explains. It was written very well and kept me engaged. But did I really enjoy it? Meh. Did I still have a lot of questions about the “mystery” of it all? Yup.
This one just wasn’t for me.
Y’all, I can’t believe it took me this long to pick up this book written by Chandler Bing himself!
I listened to the audio version, because he narrates it, and it was heartbreaking! Listening to him explain his battle with addiction (and I mean BATTLE) was really uncomfortable. Especially knowing this illness eventually takes his life. 🙁 I don’t think this should be rated but I will say there are A LOT of trigger warnings, so please be aware.

I don’t think I will give this a rating, it is a celebrity memoir who has since passed. Make of it what you will.
I started this book a few months ago and DNFed it pretty quickly. Then my book club picked it, so I tried to restart it a second time.
I hate to say… it was a bust.
One thing I did like was that Meryl Streep narrates it. But I’m afraid to say, that’s pretty much it.
I’m not even sure what it’s totally about; all I can say is it starts with a woman retelling about her young adulthood to her daughters in 2020, during the pandemic.
Apparently it gets better the last 10% of the book, unfortunately I didn’t make it.
What can I say, folks? I am a HUGE fan of Abby Jimenez and this one did not disappoint. Jimenez knows how to write a good rom-com with ZERO corny or cringey moments. She incorporates interesting characters, with witty conversations and AMAZING, banter.
The meet-cute was hilarious, Justin was perfect, Emma is adorbs and the baby raccoons!!! HA I’m still laughing out loud at that scene.
If you aren’t familiar with Jimenez, do yourself a favor and start out with Part of Your World. But don’t miss out on this one!
