The time has finally arrived, I was going to be induced ON Maddox’s due date, March 1, 2013. We got to the hospital the night before so they could “prepare” me for labor the next morning. One Ambien later and I was a loopy, sleepy mess! The next morning I had made a teeeeny tiny bit of progress but not much so we just had to wait. By mid morning I started feeling some contractions and I decided to go ahead and get the epidural. Whew, so glad I did because even after the epidural I eventually started to feel the contractions again, ugh!
All the sudden 3 nurses rush in and start moving me around and adjusting the strap that was connected to my belly to hear the baby’s heart beat. This goes on for about a minute before I break down in tears and ask them to please tell us what was going on. After another minute they calm down and tell me they had “lost” the baby’s heartbeat for a moment…. uhhh WHAT?! Apparently it happens all the time, if the baby moves or if I adjust and move the strap they could lose the heartbeat. Well guess what, that happened again….. and again!! After the third time of “losing” the baby’s heartbeat the doctor finally came in to tell us that for some reason during certain contractions the baby’s heartbeat was lowering and they didn’t know why. At this point, the panic is at 100%. She tells us we may have to do an emergency c- section.
As scared of the c section as I was, ALL I wanted was to get that little boy out healthy. Within 30 minutes of our little discussion, we were being wheeled rushed into the operating room. After a prayer, a lot of tears and a little discomfort we heard the most amazing sound in the world. Maddox Zachary Moore was out of my tummy singing us a song! Zach and I were in total disbelief that he was finally here and completely healthy! He had to visit NICU to make sure his breathing was ok after all the labor complications but after I was all stitched up and feeling somewhat back to normal they brought me my beautiful son.
