January Book Review {2023}

January 31, 2023

I started the new year strong with two out of four fabulous books and one EXTRAORDINARY one!

I love sharing what I’m reading so if you’re interested in following along, check out my Goodreads page or my Instagram. You can also see any of my previous reviews here.

If you are looking for a good read to get out of a slump I’m sure you will find one or two in this list that will do that.

The Book of Lost Names | by Kristin Harmel

My new favorite book! Wow! Wow! I wasn’t expecting to fall so hard for this book. It’s a WWII historical fiction based in Paris, France and it will break your heart into a million pieces and put it back together again. Do yourself a favor and get this book, if you haven’t already. It’s excellent.

5/5 stars!!!

Love on The Brain | Ali Hazelwood

This was sweet, kind of quirky, a little steamy and easy to read. If you're looking for a sweet story that will hold your attention while you're in car line, this one will pass the time. I enjoyed the witty writing and enemies-to-lovers trope. It's not my favorite by any means but it was enjoyable and I'd recommend it to friends that like "women in STEM".

4/5 Stars

Remarkably Smart Creatures | by Shelby Van Pelt

This one was a pleasant surprise. I'm not exactly sure what I was expecting but I enjoyed this one very much! This was a wonderful story about community, hope, love, and family! The writing style was fabulously done and the way the author wove the three storylines together was impeccable. I highly recommend this delightful read.

5/5 STARS

Lessons in Chemistry | Bonnie Garmus

What are men most afraid of in the 1960s? A smart and fearless woman! Elizabeth Zott is my hero. She is the epitome of a female heroine. She fights for herself, her work and is smart enough to back it up. The writing is so brilliant, and witty, you will not want to put it down. And don't get me started on Six-Thirty, might be my favorite literary dog of all time. I loved this book and I think everyone should read it. You will not be disappointed.

5/5 Stars

I get questions all the time about how I pick my next book and I really enjoy Goodreads for that picking my next book. I can see what my friends are reading, I can browse selections similar to the ones that I’ve loved and I can read other reviewers that have similar tastes. I also love using Book of the Month to pick new releases that steer me away from my “usual” genres.

Shrek Jr. was absolutely AMAZING! 💚🎭I am beyond proud of Maddox for taking on such a huge role and absolutely crushing it as Shrek. Watching him own that stage with confidence, talent, and perfect comedic timing was something I’ll never forget.And Mia? She kicked butt up there! She brought so much energy and heart to every moment, and seeing these two shine together made this mama’s heart so full.Now if you’ll excuse me, I’ll be humming “I’m a Believer” for the next three weeks… and wondering if we have room for a swamp in the backyard. 💚✨#maddoxzachary #maddoxandmia #shrekjr #shrekjrthemusical #actorsconservatorytheater ...
