In July 2012, we found out we were having a baby!
October 2012, we decided to seal the envelope of our sonogram and take it straight to the bakery. It was the longest 2 days of my life!!
The baker even told us not to call the next day and try to get them to spoil the surprise… and I’m so glad I didn’t.
Here we are two babies, about to have a baby.
We did the good old guess your gender, wear the color…
Here was team blue
And team pink
We played a few games, one of them was graphing the old wives tale to see which gender it was leaning towards.
It was wrong!
Here was our table set up
We had our family and friends vote on some of the names we liked.
And they also voted on some that weren’t on the list. 🙂
It’s funny seeing the top girls names now (2 years later)
Top boys names
We were so giddy with excitement!!
We were so overjoyed I couldn’t handle it!
We would’ve been happy either way, all we wanted was a healthy baby. But something happened to me that day. It was like motherhood finally kicked in, my life has NEVER been the same.
Tears of PURE JOY!
Needless to say once you know what you’re having all the cute names start becoming REAL. I didn’t even like any of the ones we had originally chosen. But MADDOX kept creeping up in my mind, so after the party while discussing it with my family and some friends…. CARLEY said “hey, how about Maddox Zachary?” I knew I liked Zachary because I wanted our son to have something from my husband and Maddox was just a favorite of mine. So once the middle name was set, the first name was easy to choose.
So a few weeks later I was shopping for his nursery and I found these awesome letters... and I had to order them. That was when MADDOX was settled, there was no going back.
Sad day for the second child….
We didn’t have a gender reveal.
We didn’t even wait for the 20 week sono.
We did the blood test at 12 weeks.
It was a simple text during recess one day that read…
“It’s a girl.”
Tears of pure happiness ran down my face and my fingers shook while I called Zach.
And once again my life was forever changed…
In a different way than the first. I knew how to be a mom, I had sleepless nights and nursing trials. But this time I was going to go through it all over again with a GIRL!!
My mini me.
My gal pal.
My little cheerleader.
And best of all Maddox was going to have a baby sister to love and protect from now until forever.
The name game.
We ALWAYS knew if we had a little girl her name was going to be Mia.
Mia Moore.
It was perfect, it was fitting. She was “our love”.
But the hard part was picking a middle name.
I thought “Love” was an exceptable middle name, so much so that I didn’t give it up until after she was born when they were in our hospital room waiting for the name to write on her birth certificate. Mia Love rolled off my tongue, it was my perfect middle name. But Zach….not so much. We had many discussions about this. Zach thought her whole name “Mia Moore” meant love, so why would we put it in the middle. My thought was she will get married one day and she wouldn’t be “Mia Moore” anymore so having ‘Love’ will keep that in her name. But still Zach thought it was a little too much. 🙂
So we ended up giving her my middle name because we gave Maddox Zach’s name so it was only fair.
Mia Lynn Moore
I love that we have the same initials.

Your kids are so cute! Cute gender reveal party too!
Oh I love this!! I'm not a regular reader of your blog, so I felt like I was at a gender reveal party just now not knowing what it was going to be! Wow! That excitement! What fun. Was so excited to learn it was a boy. Love both of your children's names 🙂
